Just placed an order for a Warwick-Rockbass Alien 6 from Bass Alien :)
...what the title says...
I just placed an order for a Warwick-Rockbass Alien 6 from Bass Alien. :)
This is the item link:
I know there's an official Warwick Alien 6, but I really can't afford that. Plus I don't know how frequently I'd actually use an acousic bass guitar.
Bass Alien has a 15% sale today, using the coupon code 15PCT0FF. The bass is regularly $999, but with the 15% discount it came down to $765.
When it arrives, I'll post my review.
NICE! You'll be pleased, regardless of which model.
You did, however, opt for the manlier fretless version, right!?!?!?!
I just chose the fretted model. I don't know how often I'll get a chance to use it, so I just chose this one. If when I get it, and like it, I may consider the Fretless model at that time.
Very cool TolerancEJ! Please be sure to keep us posted, and take lots of photos! Looking forward to your thoughts...congrats!
Received some bad news today. The Alien 6 basses, originally planned for a December release, have been delayed until March 2013. Oh well, I guess these things happen. I'm going to keep my order. It'll be hot off the press, at least.
TolerancEJ - I enquired as to what the delay was...the number of 6 string Alien's produced sold out immediately. There was more demand than we anticipated, and another order has already been requested. The delay is lead time it takes to make another run. I hope you understand, and thanks for your patience!
Thanks for your quick and helpful reply!
I just looked at the date. It is 1/3, making me wish it was 3/1 so my Alien 6 might be on its way.
Keep the faith, 3/1 will be here before you know it! And trust me, these instruments are worth the wait.
We are very eagerly awaiting their arrival! I hope there are no more delays, I can't wait much longer!
I have been subscribed to this thread for a while, but received no email yesterday or today when new posts were made to it, even though my settings are for "instant email notification" for subscribed threads. Is there a technical issue?
I received my Warwick-Rockbass Alien Deluxe 6 yesterday. Ordered in Nov 23/2012, it was a lengthy wait but it was worth it.
I ordered through Bass Alien. Mike's customer service has been excellent throughout the wait. I'm especially grateful that he inspects instruments before shipment. The shipment arrived mid-July but unfortunately Mike noticed some parts (screws & screw covers) were missing. I am sure I will be a return customer to Bass Alien.
The Alien looks great and is a blast to play. It surprisingly has a decent volume acoustically. Plugged in, the Fishman electronics sound great. The built-in tuner is quite handy.
I had initially considered the Warwick (non-Rockbass) Alien, but a few thoughts led me to the Rockbass. I wasn't sure how often I'd get to play an ABG and I do not like the thumb rest which comes with the Warwick version. If anything, the only other feature I wish had been brought to the Rockbass would be the Warwick metal bridge instead of the bridge pins.
Congrats of your beautiful Alien 6! Bass Alien has been known to provide excellent customer service.
If you ever do choose to go with the German version (although what you have is truly great) you should know it can be available with the preferences you've mentioned through out custom shop.
That's awesome you got it! I was looking at then too.
Do you know what happened from march to mid July when they arrived? I'm also waiting for a replacement Corvette that keeps getting delayed.
The 6-strings only arrived in North America in July. When I inquired during the delay, I was advised that Warwick received way more orders for Aliens than anticipated.
Note above where a few parts were missing upon arrival when inspected by my retailer. (I have to assume the same with other sellers.)
The tag was still attached to tuning key when I unboxed my bass. On the tag, all the Quality Control boxes were checked. However, the label inside the hollow body is missing the final QC signature. Perhaps if it had gone through the final inspection from the factory in China, it might not have been shipped with missing screws.
Wow!!! I had a very similar experience (except my quality card was blank!). I thought I was the only person ever to have experienced this. I'm beginning to think Warwick isn't what they used to be.
My bass was really bad; it had missing parts, defective pots, incorrect tools, and chipped wood.
The NA distributor for Warwick told me in early May it would be 3-4 weeks for a replacement. I still don't have an instrument!
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I still have faith in Warwick. 7 other Warwick models still reside in my wishlist. My next target might be the Rockbass Triumph Lite EUB, but I don't know when I'll be able to go for it.
I'd like to see a product review of that instrument. Steve Bailey played a brief demonstration during a recent NAMM show. I wish he played it a little longer for the film clip.
My wish list has a Custom Corvette $$ NT 5 with Wenge neck and Bubinga body. I've wanted that bass for many many years now.
I'm also interested in a 4 string streamer....
... But I think if I was to ever buy another Warwick I might have to go used simply to avoid the headache I got this time around.
If I knew I was gonna get the run around, I would've returned it back in May. Sold a lot of equipment to order the corvette before summer (had a lot of dates on the calendar), and ended up with no instrument to play em with!
