Pickup upgrade

I'm trying to decide between switching out my 12 year old system in my WW Thumb Bolt on 4 string. I'm looking for a modern tone with fat lows and piano mids. I don't want it to be too hi-fi but I would like them to be crispy.

I'm switching out the preamp to a Mike Pope Flexcore. If any of you have gone this route let me know.

I have never heard the Pope preamp but i'm sure it's a good upgrade. I traded the 2 band pre in a Corvette for a 2 band bartolini and it sounded a lot more open to my ears.
