Tools of the Trade?
Considering the Berklee faculty have such diverse experiences and are also responsible for preparing the next generation of professional bassists, I was curious as to what your take is on the tools an aspiring professional musician should have in his or her toolbox. To be more specific, are you encouraging students to be skilled on the 4-string, 5-string, fretless, upright, 6-string, etc.? Be a master of one? Or be fluent on several platforms? Or perhaps master one in school and learn on the job with the others?
