Bach Sonata No.2 in C major

Hey, I found this sheet music in the depths of my private teacher's music cabinet and though it would be a nice baroque sonata to play for auditions. That being said I or my teacher don't know what instrument the sonatas were originally for and if there any available recordings of any instrument? Any info would be useful.

You probably have the 2nd sonata for viola da gamba. It's actually in D and you have a bass version meant for solo tuning.
There's plenty of recordings by cellists, gambists and even bassists. Some on Youtube.

I'm learning this piece right now for my 3rd year jury at school. It's freakin' beautiful. If you want to hear a great recording to give you an idea of how it sounds, send me a PM and I'll email you the tracks.

There's a great recording on iTunes of Bach's viola da gamba sonatas with Bruno Procopio and Emmanuelle Guigues.
