Question Beginner Books

Can someone please recommend a few book titles for beginner URB. I'm wanting to get the basics and some technique down and then move into some jazz and blues repertoire.

Many thanks!

Simandl New Method for the Double Bass Book 1

This is the book to start with. You can get it here:

http://www2.mailordercentral.com/lemurmusic/

Also for jazz I think alot of people start with Rufus Reid's Evolving Bassist (also available from lemur), but I play classical. I have the book, but never really looked at it yet....

Just noticed you're in Australia. Have you tried The Bass Shop (Shoppe?) in Sydney...its in one of the Suburbs, and if you can contact the luthier/shopowner, I'm sure he can send you some books. Check out the Sydney Yellow Pages or something.....
