Berio Sequenza XIVb

So I've started looking at this piece by Berio, but am sort of confounded by measure 1. It says to pizz harmonics with the right hand and "strike the bottom" with the left hand, but italian abbreviations aren't helping much to decipher what is supposed to happen here.

Look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=ES&hl=es&v=M7rILpUnKaM

I bought the music but I don't know when I can start to study it. It looks terribly exciting.

Universal Edition. If you like it, listen to Scodanibbio's CD "Geografia amorosa", which contains his piece with pizz harmonics with both hands. I had seen it in concert, but even on CD it's incredible. Extremely expressive, magnificent sound.
