Berklee audition

hey...i'm getting ready for an audition for Berklee in about a month(if they ever send me my audition date) and am wondering what to play for my prepared peice. So far I think I'm either gonna play Dig by Miles Davis or Homecoming by Dave Holland. What do you guys think? Anything that you think I should play instead? What did anyone else play? Thanks for the help.

You can play whatever you want and they'll probably like it. I played There'll Never Be Another You, and then Mr PC with one of the professors who was a guitar player (they requested it).

Friend of mine who plays Bass and BG got $40,000 there last year. He's going there right now. I think he spent a small amount of time on these boards.

Memorize the song you're playing, and play the melody. The sight reading is a breeze; you choose from a page of basslines of different styles which they give you during the warm up time.

You can't go wrong with a good swinging standard, especially one that every bass player is expected to know. Another good one along those lines is Visitation, by Paul Chambers. Bird heads work great, too.
