Bottesini Cadenza tibit

First of all this is from measure 101 in the cadenza.

My edition has the d-f-a over and over till you get to the A about a octave off the fingerboard. Then a D quarter note and a C 8th note.

I asked my teacher about this because in most recordings I heard there is another set of 16th note triplets similar to those that followed the sets of 32nd notes in measures 98-100.

He brought his edition of the Bottesini today and instead of what I have he has a D melodic minor scale from open D up 2 octaves. Then the set of 16th note triplets.

I am wondering in measure 101 which is standard, the d-f-a for 4 octaves or the D melodic minor scale for 2? In a audition, which is standard?

It's a cadenza, there is no such thing as standard. Play the arpeggio and add some of your own interests. That is what most people do.

So you say play the D-F-A arpeggio?? I am talking for auditions that request the standard cadenza. This is why I am asking.

Yes just play the D minor arpeggio. Listen to recordings. Almost all of them have the "standard cadenza" and almost none of them sound the same.

Yeah, I do the D minor arpeggio and even go to hit the high D as a false harmonic. It sets you up perfectly if you want to do a Meyer style cadenza with false harmonics, but that's a little to flashy for my tastes.

I'm not big on false harmonics, they are a last resort for me. I'd much rather go straight sown the fingerboard and down near the bridge.

Who said anything about sounding the same? I just wanted to know which was considered to be the standard edition of that measure, the D minor scale up 2 octaves, or the D minor arpeggio that goes up almost 4 octaves.

I'm probably going to find a median, I never thought much about the 2 versions of that measure till recently and wanted to get opinions.
