Different chords, too. Paul Jackson, one of the great slab players. If you really want to do it correctly, the bass line is played on an ARP synth, and you play the little 16th note line on the bass. Picky, picky.... |

In a pinch, we may have to do an abbreviated version of it; just to get people moving a little. Most of the gig will be background music, though. I'm not looking forward to hauling both basses around either. Oh well, the things we do for art.

After the gig, you'll hear the full version and go "OH YEAH".... I only know it because I wore the grooves off of that vinyl when it came out.
PS.... if you get really desperate, contact me and I'll play it for you over the phone. Remember the time zones!

Our rhythm section is good and we could pull it together so I may try and grab a recording tomorrow before rehearsal. Robin sent me the Real Book chart (thankyouthankyouthankyou) so we can at least funk on it some. Killer frickin' grooves in that tune. I can't wait to play it again.

Right as we played the tune at the gig I went, "Oh Yeah! THAT'S it!!" We didn't do that part at the gig but I promptly got it down later that week. Funky, funky, funky.

Jim | Nope, but that sounds fun. I was set to play with him once with someone, (Maybe Joe Sample? Can't remember now)... but I ended up going on a tour to Japan instead. One of those times I wished I could clone myself!
Hey Deaf Pea, I worked with Joe Porcaro... what a great drummer and a sweet man. One of my favorite guys in the biz. |

Yeah, ya' got that right . . .
but really, MOST of the great drummers ARE great "people", first, IME. YMMV. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
