I've heard several versions of this - but it's always been with a 2-feel in the bass?

I'm sure there is!

But he still plays a 2-feel!

Are you just looking for a bass part or an entire score for big band? There are definitely transcriptions for bands. I've not played it myself but I have lots of sources for Ellington transcriptions so let me know if you need help.

I'd be very interested in your resource for Ellington charts. My band is always looking for new charts, and I'm a huge fan of authentic music from that era.
