Eccles

I have my first in class recital week and I have decided to fall back on the old standby Eccles G-minor 1st movement (and maybe the fourth if I can get it together). Is this lame? I mean it's not that hard but it does show case the bass well as a melodic instrument and is one of the nicest melodies in the reperatoire. One of my class mates is a LA Phil bassist (Yikes) who is learning flute of all things. I'm sure he will have lot's of comments during the post-performance critique.

I went to an Edgar Meyer recital last spring, and the Eccles was the first thing on the program. A well-heeled, often played piece, perhaps, but for good reason. I love playing it (but I don't think I'll ever approach the tempi Edgar took on the fast movements). Have fun, and good luck!
