Eccles: urtext vs. Zimmerman

Lemur Music lists lists two versions of the Eccles sonatas: Sonata No. 11 for solo bass (urtext), Item number SLA026, for $10, and Sonata in G minor (F. Zimmerman), INT1712 for $8. Does anyone recommend one over the other? Are they both in tenor clef? I've heard of some in Am, and saw that a talkbass discussion pointed to one at http://www.box.net/public/static/chbsx74yx1.pdf, which is in Am with bass clef. Are all the bass clef ones in Am? Can anyone tell me more about the relationship between these various versions?

thanks,

Bob

Careful, that's the pianists copy so ofcourse the bass part would be in bass clef seeing how we have our music transposed an octave higher. The bass clef part in the piano score (the pdf file) is being written at sounding pitch. It's highly unlikely that the bass part will be in bass clef, way too many ledger lines. Stick with the International Pub Zimmerman version which you play in G minor but tune your bass a tone higher so it sounds in A minor.

desperately need a copy of Eccles urtext

Does anyone know any where I can get a copy of the urtext to Eccles? Lemur music have sold out and I really needit for my second year degree recital. The zimerman piano part is not acceptable to my teachers. If noone knows of a shop is anyone prepared to email me or post me a copy knowing I've got a part on order?

Cheers, Izzy
