Nora Jones may be a good example. I play upright or electric upright in church and I'd like to hear how some modern upright players perform their bass lines. Many thanks.

But what kinda pop do you mean? Kiddie pop, or stuff like I mention above?

Nothing to write home about, but more examples of it used in rock. The major label ones I've done should be easy to find and they are:
David Garza "This Euphoria"
Juliana Hatfield "Beautiful Creature"
I know there are lots of other examples but its late and im too tired to remember. |

If you're talking strictly modern "pop" - then it's almost exclusively programmed...
But there is a sense in which Jazz is becoming the new pop!!
So at a lot of the pop/rock festivals this year, there have been Jazz or at least "Jazzier artists....
How about Jamie Cullum - Jazz/Swing/Pop crossover ? - with the wonderful Geoff Gascoyne on Double Bass - definitely a good player, who is out there now, doing it on DB - not 20 years ago!
