forbidden pieces to jam

Good friends,
please help me to nail down (in a good way)this good W.Shorter progression (IRIS on Miles E.S.P)

Seems that all the world adore Miles and the second quintet, but on a stage when calling this kind of stuff to occasional jam stagemates they look at you like a moron who strives to try them.
I like this music, i'd like to have a better understanding.

any help really appreciated

/F-11 / % / EMaj7 #11/ GbMaj7#11/

/Bb7#5 /Db7#11 / Ab7#5 / % /

/C-7 / % / Db#11 / C-7 /

/Db7#11 / Db- b6/ Db7#11/ % /

Forgive if my english is not perfect.

Thank you

Giovanni

I am not understanding you. What is it that you want to do? Figure out a good bass line, or solo over the changes? Or are you trying to analyze the piece?

sorry if i'm not so clear.
my interest is mainly harmonic analysis, but some inputs for soloing are also appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

W. Shorter Tunes

Nero-

W. Shorter used a lot of pentatonic scales in his improvising when these tunes were written. Many of the tunes reveal a logic if you analyze them in terms of the pentatonic scales that would work over each chord.

Write out the pentatonic scale (or scales) that work over each chord in the tune. Then try to find the simplest path thru the chords - either one requiring the fewest scale changes, or perhaps just a semi-tone shift of the scale.
