The way I've always done it is

AABA form

A Section - C#7/G#

B Section - B7

Besides the classic versions
...
The Jean Michel Pilc Trio does a really cool version on the "Live at the Iridium" cd.

Not to turn this into a discussion but according to my quick google search Straight No Chaser was recorded in 1966 and Underground in 1967.

I stand corrected, all I can say is that I have an earlier CD version of S.N.C. that doesn't have Green Chimneys and the other extra tunes on it. I do know that the version on Underground was the first to be released.

You're probably right. The Straight No Chaser I have is a re-release.

I think it's modal too (but I'm a bit of a greenhorn so take what i say with a grain of salt?)

My favorite two chord tune. I think it's Ab Dorian and Gb Mixolydian.

Cheers.
