Merton Music/Ourtext Chamber Music
I posted something about this awhile ago, but am just curious whether anyone has explored the pieces available from Merton Music. You can get the scores for free on IMSLP, or order them printed (for cheap) from Ourtext.
I'm familiar with the Onslow works, but none of the others. Are any of them interesting? I'm not expecting long-lost masterpieces, but it would be nice to find some easy-intermediate chamber pieces for student groups or for sight reading.
Interesting to see a string quintet by Ambroise Thomas, composer of Mignon and Hamlet. Do you know if it's primarily a second cello part or meant for both?
There's a video of David Sinclair rehearsing and recording a string quintet by Felicien David with Christoph Coin here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gWpZk3GVY8
The lowest part on the Ambroise Thomas is for originally contrabass, not an adapted 2nd cello. The title page says contrabass. There is a 2nd cello part adapted from the bass part. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/images...olors/cool.gif
Very cool, thanks!
