Need Review of some solo pieces

I'm trying to find romantic or later music for my piano-doublebass class.
I have search SheetMusicPlus , but there are no indications of the level of the pieces.

Also I would like to find music writen on concert key, since is a problem for me dealing with Solo tunning.

I'm in my 7 year, and currently I,m playing Eccles Sonata, Vivaldi cello sonata VI, and have played recently Choral - Auguste Chapuis, DittersDorf Konzert in E, Piece en Re - Jean River, Prelude et Allegro Jacques Charpentier, as an example of my current level.

Can you please give some review of the following works?

- Prayer (No.1 from "Jewish Life") by Ernest Bloch (1880-1959)
- Polonaise Brillante, Opus 3 - String Bass/Piano by Frederic Chopin
- Sonate Op.38 by Johannes Brahms
- 4 Episodes by Christopher Benstead
- Ballade Oubliee by Jean Chastanet
- Odd Man Out by Vernon Elliott
- Four pieces for Double Bass and Piano
- Caliban & Ariel by Bryan Kelly

Any other suggestion will be wellcome.

I am practising Caliban and Ariel at the moment. It is on the Grade 8 Associated Board syllabus in the uk. There are a few tricky bars in thumb position in the second movement but looking at your other pieces you should have no problems. Aside from that it is quite an exciting piece to play (very rhythmic) and hopefully very entertaining.
Good luck! let me know how you get on.

The Bloch prayer is a nice piece. I don't know what edition the Brahms Opus 38 is, but most are in D (the ones arranged for DB, not original cello parts), requiring solo tuning. Not to mention it is a pretty challenging piece to perform well at pitch... I would say it is much more technically difficult than your current rep. You also list "Four pieces for Double Bass and Piano," which is probably the Gliere, but could be the Koussevitzky. If it is the Gliere, you might want to wait a little while before you take it on, but the Koussevitzky four pieces might be just what you're looking for. I am curious about that Chopin arrangement and I am not familiar with the other works.
