Pools

I've been trying to figure out a good way to finger the melody to "Pools" (the Don Grolnick/Steps Ahead tune) and especially the passage that goes up to the high B note. While the article in the new "Double Bassist" magazine showing the proper way to finger fourths high on the neck helped, that particular passage is really difficult to play cleanly and without ghost notes. Any ideas??? Thanks!

I don't know what the "proper" way is, but I always played that part with my first finger on the B on the A string in thumb position, second finger on the E (D string), and third finger on the A (G string). Shift up to the B with your third finger, and back down the fourths with the same fingering you went up. Then hit the A harmonic on the A string for the last note.

There's a Steps Ahead video where you can see Eddie Gomez play this, but I don't remember if you can see him play that part.
