Solo options or 1st year Student - 6th grader???

Hey there friends,

I have a 6th grader who's only been playing for a year. Although we've just covered the basics I would like to find a simple solo piece for us to begin working on. Can any one recommend a good elementary solo w/ piano accompaniment - either a single piece or a book of possible solo's?

Please advise, & thanks

Cy

You could check out George Vance's books: http://www.slavapub.net/Sheet_Music-...epertoire.html
They have a lot of melodic solos that go from beginner to the Dragonetti concerto.

i recommend the tuba solo - o isis and osiris from mozart's Die Zauberflöte KV620. Some tuba, low brass music is perfect for beginning bassists. I'll try to get the music in the next few days and do a double bass edition of it.
