My name is Jeff, This coming fall i'm going to be a senior Music Ed. Major at the Crane School of Music, in NY. At the end of the semester I will be performing a 10 minute recital and i was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions for pieces. So far i've decided on Valse Mineature by Koussevitsky and i need probably one more piece.
I'm looking for something a little out of the your everyday standard reperitorie. I was hoping for something eastern euopean/folk influenced, spanish influenced, or something jazzy.
An idea of where i am at ability wise, I've played the 1st movements of the capuzzi and dragonetti concerti. Vocalise, Chanason Triste, Armond russel - Chacon. I've played all of those in the past and with a little work to remember things i can play them decently again.
I've browsed over lemur things, however they generally have terrible or no descriptions (anyone know any other sites that have descriptions, or samples?).
Any suggetions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

The videos have helped me decide once or twice whether I was ready for a pieces I have wanted to play.

I do have Elegy which i looked at tonight, it's a nice piece i might do that. Adequate contrast to Valse if i do it at Garry Karr pace :-D I'll probably order the tarantella's and the massenet soon from lemur, there were videos of the tarantella at that site (Thanks for the link) they seem pretty difficult, they might be more of a long term goal than just one semester but i do like them and will play them someday.
Any more info on those Granados pieces? I've never heard of them before.
Thanks everyone and looking forward to more suggestions.

It doesn't go very high. It's highly chromatic, and can be tricky to get the right pitches, but it's very expressive and I love playing it. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
