Sounds like she was using Harry Partch's 43 tone just intonated scale. I think you guys just don't have refined ears.

Or not.

Oh god. My friend who is a professional trumpet player showed me this... I almost died. She butchered the thing! Seriously, I feel any sane person would know prior that, if they're not skilled at something, don't do it in a talent show!

For all that haven't been offended yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wffwg7pA0t8

Edit: After reading interviews, and such, she did go out there in front of millions of people. She might have been off key but I don't think we can all give her "junk" for that. I mean, we all know we've been in situations similar. (Maybe not as extreme, but none the less...) Gah, I hate being devil's advocate, and we all know it was funny... I guess I just need to state the good to help me sleep at night. ;-)

the first comment on youtube "you have got to be shi....g me" .i love that turn of phrase, so expressive, wish i could use it, i've been practising, don't think it works in anything but an american accent, i just stumbled upon really great one i'd never heard "yowsa! when did you sprout them tatties?" now that has real weight, just wonderful.

If I looked and dressed like that, I bet that you would listen to me play, too!

My favorite part is the choreography...

Bless you, Paul.
