vanhal concerto in vienese or modern tuning?

I just finished my junior year in music school. I'm trying to put my senior recital rep together and I have a hole in the classical era.

So my teacher has recommended I drop the koussevitzky concerto (which I have mostly memorized already), and do the Vanhal concerto for my classical piece. Then for the romantic spot pick a couple of pieces from kouss or gliere miniatures and/or bottesini elegy (all of which I can already play fairly well).

So my question is, should I venture into viennese tuning for the vanhal, or do it in modern fourths tuning? I'm interested in vienese tuned bass, but am not sure it's a good idea to gamble my senior year on it.

It would be interesting to try it out but one thing to consider is having to change tunings in the middle of your recital. You would probably want to keep it all consistent with the same tuning as you are using for the rest of the program. Your bass/strings may not have enough time to adjust to the different tuning in the middle of the recital.
