| vanhal concerto in vienese or modern tuning? I just finished my junior year in music school. I'm trying to put my senior recital rep together and I have a hole in the classical era.
So my teacher has recommended I drop the koussevitzky concerto (which I have mostly memorized already), and do the Vanhal concerto for my classical piece. Then for the romantic spot pick a couple of pieces from kouss or gliere miniatures and/or bottesini elegy (all of which I can already play fairly well).
So my question is, should I venture into viennese tuning for the vanhal, or do it in modern fourths tuning? I'm interested in vienese tuned bass, but am not sure it's a good idea to gamble my senior year on it.
