13 years old Brazilian bass player. Unbelievable !

Definately amazing!! What the heck do I think I'm doing when I see someone so young who can play like that?

Yes he's ! But I think he must be well known in the world ! He's not copying anybody's licks ! He's playing with his heart !

Pipoquinha is good. He's in his late teens now I think. His earlier stuff though is my fave of his.

He's 16 now (I'm Friends on FB with him). He's played a lot with some mutual friends - Sergio Groove and Jim/Grant Stinnett. He's incredible!! His dad's a musician. I'm hoping he will come up here for NH Bass Fest sometime....lots of players from Brazil do each year.

There are lot of cool cats in Brazil playing bass nowadays ! A lot of upcoming world wide new bass heros is coming ! LOL ! Bass monsters ! Sergio Groove (35), Michael Pipoquinha (15), Thiago Espirito Santo (25) and others ! You must see them playing.

What exactly is there to be learned from him? In every video of him I've ever seen he's either playing The Chicken or regurgitating licks that someone has shown him. I've not seen any real musical innovation from him so far. What am I supposed to be seeing?

Don't worry about it - I heard that bass virtuosity is out for 2013 and simply holding it down is back in.

Holding it down is back in ! But this little boy can really play and I think he's doing the right thing , just playing his bass ! That's enough !

And by the way, he's just 14 (That's the reason I posted this thread) , maybe in his 17s or 18s he might interest you more ! LOL !
