I'm gonna guess Flea and Joe Osborne.

If I were to guess again I'd say James Jamerson, Geddy Lee, and Gene Simmons.

If I could add one more I'd say Paul McArtney.

Tim Commerford and Ryan Martinie.

I really dig Ryan's tone and his general attack of the strings, and just the way he can work his hands. And as for Timmy C, well Timmy C taught me the bassist doesn't have to be fancy -- but he has a job to do and he better do it right and sound good while doing it.

Just two... God... that's a hard one. I'd go with:
Ryan Martinie
ChaoTH (from Unexpect)

Ryan's tone and lines are amazing. How he can play counterparts, not just to follow the guitars and add slap lines... awesome.
And ChaoTH is the one who showed me ERBs weren't Chapman Sticks, it wasn't necessarily (sp?) tapping machines, one can play complex counterpart lines taking advantage of the extended range and making very creative things with them without entering in Tappingland.
Others would be Jeroen Paul Thesseling, Jean Baudin...

Definitely my #1, I suppose. The other being Scott Reeder of Kyuss for laying down some heavy grooves.

Both have a strong presence that supports that band. Dig it.

I'd have to say Jack Bruce and Jack Cassady.

Jaco Pastorius and Jeroen Paul Thesseling

Both for overlapping and separate reasons.
Jaco instilled in me the need to find hidden nooks in songs to exploit to bring out new moods, the importance of note duration, accenting, and right hand tone to control feel.
Jeroen Paul Thesseling also for finding hidden moods in a song and bringing it out. Incorporating micro-tones, especially in an eastern manner to add extra color to harmonies. Using double stops, especially octaves, to add a sense of depth to certain lines. Also being very careful about rhythm, his almost exotic sense of timing is still something that alludes me.
