I miss him. His vocal style was unique - he rocked, but I could always understand every word he sang. I dug his P-Bass sound also.

R.I.P. Phil

I actually was listening to the Jailbreak album yesterday. Awesome frontman. I gotta admit, I didn't like his vocal style at first, but it grew on me.

That cat could sing, and he could front.
The heavenly band rocks a little harder with him there.

We used to cover Jailbreak.

I never knew the guys name though. Just it was by Thin Lizzy.

I think it's a shame that Phil Lynott was never given his due as a great musician. Pretty much every song they did was brilliant in its own way, even though they only had two hits in America. Check out stuff like "Cowboy Song," "Warrior," "Waiting For An Alibi," "Hollywood (Down On Your Luck)," "Angel of Death," and "Bad Reputation," among others. And of course, my favorite, "Whiskey In The Jar," which Metallica covered and ruined IMHO.

"dancing in the moonlight" is a really cute song. I don't use that word often, especially in the context of music... but it's the best word for it. it fills me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside...

"now we go steady to the pictures... I always get chocolate stains on my pants..."

he was always to the point with his lyrics... he wasn't trying to be clever or cool. he was just being himself.

RIP Phil, you're truly missed.

this is a really sad song, but I'd class it as one of my favourite thin lizzy songs ever written: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=M5jDrqB83Ls

I can't stand that Metallica cover. The TL version is wayyyyy better.

Philo was a great bassist, an excellent singer and a superb songwriter. R.I.P.

I've always loved "Cowboy Song"...

RIP Phil - the world is a little less bright without you.

Thin Lizzy wasn't the original...

it's a traditional song in the public domain
