5 string bassists

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone, I recently got a 5 string bass and I'd like to put it to use. Obviously it's fun grooving on the lower string now with bands that traditionally don't use 5 string basses but I was wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me some bands that use 5 string basses. I'm into rock, blues, and funk if that helps anyone give me some bands that use a 5 string. Currently I've been playing Primus, some RHCP, and slipknot, but I'd like to find more bands that are more like RHCP grooves and like Primus. Thanks for the help

CC's (Cannibal Corpse) bassist, Alex Webster uses 5 strings now. A good way to start with finding some would be to look at some metal bands because I see more 5 strings used in metal than about anywhere else, I dunno though, most of the tabs I see even for bands that I know are using 5 strings only have 4 string tabs. Well, that's not much help, is it?

Just play and don't worry so much about what other bands do; the notes are there for you to use however you like.

I don't know if you've heard of moe., but their bass player most likely uses at least a 5-string, if not a 6.
