6/7 String Players with Guitar Tuning

What players utilize guitar tuning on their bass? I'd like to hear them play, even if it is just noodling about on the 'Tube.

If you can find any good videos go ahead and post that as well.

John Turner of Lord Only (a fellow TBer and a really rocking bass player) plays a 7-string turned BEADGBE. You can hear him at www.myspace.com/lordonly

(Cheers, John!)

w00t i h4z f4mez . thanks man.

yeah, i started using the guitar-like tuning when i got my first, fretless 7 back in 93. i had played tim bogert's tobias signature 6 string bass at the namm show in atlanta in the summer of 88, and he tuned b-e-a-d-g-b, and that always stuck with me as somewhat appropriate. when i could finally afford a nice erb 5 years later, i tried it out, and it worked.

i now use multiple tunings, but the main ones are b-e-a-d-g-b-e and f#-b-e-a-d-g-c. my 8's are tuned f#-b-e-a-d-g-b-e.

works better, especially for chords - the 2nd tune on our myspace page has an arpeggiated chord section about halfway through (about 8 minutes in) that i play, that would be impossible on a standard tuned 7.

Yeah, I was looking at your band's site when I saw how you tuned your first Conklin.
