Women's Month Jazz Festival

179 Marcus Garvey Boulevard
bet. Kosciuszko St. and DeKalb Ave.
Brooklyn, New York 11221
Celebrating its 7th year in 2009, LADY GOT CHOPS features an international artist roster of Women: musicians, singers, writers and poets. In its 6-year existence, the Festival has not been underwritten by any organization. Through the persistent grassroots efforts of its dedicated co-producers, the Festival has grown exponentially each year. All events are presented at the JAZZ SPOT CAFE, an alcohol free, non-smoking environment welcoming all ages. The Festival was created to empower women instrumentalists. Although a marked increase in their numbers is evident in the jazz community, the assumption that work is and always will be available is a grave misconception. Audiences are not always built-into a venue. The Festival guarantees participating musicians a minimal remuneration which is distributed independently of patron attendance. Artists are encouraged to use the opportunity to be pro-active in building their career through expanding their audience. This method has worked on occasion in the past but in itself is not enough.
Your donation will help with: Promotion-$400 stamps, flyers, postcards
