ACDC last night

Had tickets to see ACDC in Tampere last night.
I have to go back to 1984 for the last time I saw them live.

Tho Angus was the main man, was nice to see how tight the rythmn section were they never missed a beat.
Not really a fan of Cliff Williams, but he kept it very tight and the bass sounded good and had some thump A lot more than you hear on the records.

Only had a compact camera with me but, thought I'd post a shot of Cliff (posing) and his gear.

Nice. Love Cliff's tone, playing and his bad ass "So what? I'm a bass player" stage presence. Good to know that Angus hasn't changed one bit - did he rock the red SG w/ bigsby at all? Killer group, 'nuff said. :-)

Related Question

Thanks for posting.

Actually two questions - 1) Who are you more surprised is still living since 1984 - you or AC/DC band members?
2) Do you think the guitar tech/roadie who handles Angus' sweaty guitars gets additional pay for that hazard?

Lol@ Q #1 Berman.
Those Boys still have a lot of heart.

That was another thing that really impressed me in that only Cliff changed his bass for a couple of songs (which seemed strange as he seemed to changed it for another Stingray), whilst Angus and Malcom used the same guitars for the whole show.
None of this U2 changing guitar for everysong palava

Highfox, this is very interesting to me as well.
When I saw him in Ottawa, he kept the same sunburst Stingray for the whole show, although through me watching Youtube videos I've noticed that he's been recently swapping out for a red Stingray during Hells Bells. I'm curious!

i believe angus' guitar tech is the same guy who techs for pete townshend...at least angus used to use him. growing his hair out is a bad move, though...guys who are bald on top shouldn't have long hair...trust me...i know firsthand

love ac/dc, though...cliff is an amazing bass player. i hear guys who can play 10x as fast as he can struggle with playing ac/dc songs convincingly and in time. nice pic!

Cliff is, IMO, Bass 101 par excellence. His stuff (along with Alan Lancaster of Status Quo) was what got me started nigh on 30 years back. Rock solid, always in the pocket, masterful timing & locked to Phil Rudd all the time. A powerhouse rhythm section if ever there was one.

Anyone starting out (and quite a few who reckon they can play a bit) needs to spend some time with AC/DC's back catalogue.

Pete.

AC/DC has always been one of those magical bands whos whole is greater than the sum of individual parts. They have had the wisdom to stick with their formula and it works.

I was at the Tampere show as well, and I must say the whole performance was very solid. No surprises is the way to go for these guys. "For those about to Rock" was a fitting ending, despite the lyrics (that would logically put the song first in the set list).

you don't start your show with cannons, you end it

Cliff has aged the best of any of those guys. Must be that laid-back bassist demeanor.

I saw them on their "For Those About to Rock" tour and I remember about Cliff is, they had a mic on the front line for him to do backing vox and the ONLY time he ever came to the front line was to get on that mic. He'd do his vox and go right back to that spot in front of his rig where he is in the OP's pic. It was like, "let me get this singing s**t out of the way so I can get back there by Phil and just play BASS". I loved it.
