I've heard of a few well known actors/entertainers recently who play bass (good or bad).
I'll start with the ones I know and ya'll can add to the list:
Penn Jillette- Penn & Teller
Gary Sinise- "LT. Dan" from Forest Gump, CSI: NY (has chops)
Malcolm Jamal-Warner - Theo Huxtable on Cosby (has chops, too)
John C. Reilly- Dewey Cox
Hulk Hogan- 
any others?....
