Hello Everyone:
My son is doing a "Tribute to U2" session at our local School of Rock starting this month. Last year he was in the Black Sabbath show there and had a great time with Geezer Butler's lines. While Adam Clayton's lines are not as challenging, this will be a great experience for him and I want to make the most of it. Should be a great experience.
I usually help him learn his bass lines by listening to the recordings, and we will continue this. But I'd also like to use this semester to deal more with standard notation and song form, so I wonder about any good U2 song books that you might know. They don't need to necessarily be bass books, but that would be great.
Looks like Hal Leonard has one with a handful of hits on it, so that's an obvious place to start. It also looks like there's an out-of-print Bass Recorded Versions, but it might be an earlier version of the same book. I know some Adam Clayton fans here will have the skinny on what is out there.
Here's a shot of Owen on the night of the last Sabbath show (he's 11). His new jazz bass with a maple neck will be perfect for AC's pick tone on the U2 tracks.
