I've gotten no answer from Yahoo's Answers, so I thought to ask the real experts

What (fretless) bass does Adam Clayton use on Zooropa's
Some Days Are Better than Others? It's a very clear and fat tone, nicely up in the mix. I remember seeing a photo in an article of the period, and it was almost definitely a fretless of contemporary design, but I can't remember any specifics. Ibanez? Warwick? Maybe the tone will be familiar to someone...
I found an old forum post:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archiv.../t-274051.html but it only mentions an Auerswald fretless, cf the Popmart tour bass. During the '91 Achtung Baby sessions he was using a fretless on several tracks, especially on the bootleg of the time (which is very, very revealing of the band trying to get it together, almost embarassing).
Any ideas appreciated; I'm a junky for Adam's great tone, especially of the mid-late 80s and early 90s period.
[Bonus afterthought from Lanois re
the Unforgettable Fire recordings: "Most of the time we used no effects, just a big flat-out sound that was very obnoxious and loud [[Fender Jazz and Precision basses; Ampeg SVT amp with eight 10" speakers, BGW 750-watt amp with Harbinger cabinet housing one 15" speaker and two horns]]. In fact, sometimes I'd solo the bass and think, "This can't be, we can't use this; it's horrible, rumbly, filthy -- and upsetting!" But then I'd get home and listen to the song, and it'd have something."]
