Adam Nitti is an amazing bassist with a killer tone on his Warrior 6-string. Here is a clip that I saw for the fist time today:

I study with Adam. he is one of the most knowledgable players I've had the pleasure to study with. He knows theory like crazy. He's probably forgotten more about theory than I'll ever know. But he does a great job teaching and I've learned a ton from him. He's a freaking monster player too. If you ever have the chance to see him live, DO IT! You'll be amazed.

he was just at the navy school of music for a master class. he is even more unbelievable in person. thought he'd be taller though.

Wonderful player, but man, I have to say that I absolutely hate the tone of that Warrior. Every clip I've heard, including the clips on the Aguilar site sounds sterile and clacky. It's really hard for any bass to make an Aguilar rig sterile and clacky, but that bass did!

I'd love to hear him on a more 'musically voiced' instrument.

Pure IMO, but that is probably the most awful bass tone I've ever experienced

That's why I roll off the VTC on my Sadowsky and play with medium/high action on D'Addario Halfrounds. Not a fan of the bright/modern with ultra-low action trend in bass tone. Smokin player though.

One of my favorites around, I got his "Balance" and "Evidence" albums and I've listened to them thousand of times, I've learned also some tunes, with some difficulty considering that Adam's one of the most amazing players in the world..!!
I still have to check the latest, "Liminal"...there are some italian players on it!

Hi Ken, you are truly a Jazz Bass partisan! I think Adam Nitti is getting a pretty standard "modern" tone with his Warrior although I like this clip even better:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-z8y...eature=related

That clip sounds the best of everything I've heard... nice!

And no, I dig many basses, MTD's, Fodera's, Sadowsky Moderns, Skjolds, etc.... Warriors... not so much

I will agree that Nitti's tone on the first clip was nowhere near as warm as the clip I posted which really reminds me of a Ken Smith/Cirrus sort of tone.

On the Balance and Evidence CD's, Adam's main basses are Curbows-he wasn't playing Warrior yet. Here is a clip of him playing a Curbow 6:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0zqw...om=PL&index=33

I actually prefer the tone of the Curbow over the Warrior. He also played a Curbow Retro II jazz type bass that sounds good!

IIRC he used a 70's Fender on some of his recordings.

I'm not sure what basses he's playing on that CD (Curbow?). Killer tone and playing!!!! I found a used copy of this CD online and can't wait to hear it!!!

I saw him play and got some insight from him at Gerald Veasley's Bass Boot Camp. He is an amazing player and great teacher! He also runs MusicDojo ol, which seems to be the best ol bass school.

Nice note choices. I gotta listen to that clip again through my "real" speakers though, because through the tiny laptop speakers his tone sounds like a fat guy walking through deep snow in ski boots: "CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH"

The last couple of times I've seen Adam he's played an old Yamaha TRB 5. Great player and a nice guy to boot!
