I think Anthony Jackson is a great bassist and an innovator.

It is also my opinion that anything to the contrary is contrary to what I feel and does make me shake my head at such contrary opinions.

I also get fired up when players, and I use that term loosely, start talking trash about the innovators and greats of our instrument.

Unless you personally know the player and maybe they've slighted you in some way what makes you think that they're pompous, self absorbed, crap, or that you're any better than them on a musical and personal level?

Why does it get in to character assassinations over players that are obviously head and shoulders above the best?

I'm 100% with you, especially regarding Anthony. My eyes still hurt from all the rolling they did at some of the posts I saw yesterday. He's an historically important player and will remain one, regardless of gossip.

I've met Anthony on a number of occasions and have expressed to him my admiration and appreciation of his playing and contributions to the status quo of electric bass playing. He's always been cordial, respectful, and pleasant to me. Of course, I approached him in the same manner. Funny how that works, huh?

I respect all players that have had an impact on the history of the bass and I make it a habit to refer to them respectfully. I reserve the right to think whatever I want about them otherwise. I don;t need anyones permission to have an opinion.

I love the man's tone, respect the man's playing and have yet to read / hear anything from him that I haven't agreed with on some level and / or to some degree.

Thank you Anthony for being such an inspiration and innovator to my chosen instrument. I hope to get a chance to shake your hand and say it in person some day.
