Al Jarreau has an affinity for.........

...........lefty bassists who play basses with their basses strung righty! Stan Sargent and Chris Walker! I wonder if he holds auditions with those parameters?? What are the odds?! Chris Walker kills! I remember years ago, he came out with a vocal R&B album and I knew he was a bassist but didn't realize how good he was!

I've seen Al 3 times in the mid 80's to mid 90's. The bassists working with him then were all righties (Ricky Minor being one and Nathan East being another). It's just a coincidence. Al has ALWAYS had some of the best musicians on the scene working with him. But, Chris has skills! I remember his New Jack Swing/R&B tune from years back.

Wonderful ... nice find DWB

Al Jarreau has always had great bassists when he tours ... my all time favorite is Nathan East, he just totally blew me away with how tastefully he supported Al while still showing his amazing skills ....

Thanks for a great clip, DW! It is wonderful to see a Steinberger getting slapped again. I always thought they were underrated basses. I know the two I had were fine.

I also think it speaks very highly of Al Jarreau as a bandleader to give such a talented vocalist a spotlight.

When I first saw the clip, I was like........

Then I thought about my skills and was like........

Chris is really good and a great singer as well. I wish there was more videos of his playing on youtube or anywhere! Only this and his old R&B tunes come up!
