Alain Caron's Unique Punchy Tone

I have never heard a jazz player who sounds like Alain Caron. Love the tone and style. Very punchy. He plays on Markbass and F Bass. Of course much/most has to do with how he plays, but is there something else? Special compression settings? Or, is he just matching up with the bass drum better than most?

Take a look at Slam the Clown or Turkey Loose on the Kit on youtube. Amazing.

Maybe all I need is an F Bass. ;)

Thanks.

Here's a video of him talking about his Markbass Amp:

It's a great amp. I got to try one but would really like to try it again with my bass.
