Hello- first timer to TB.

I own an MIM standard Precision and I'm looking into buying my second bass. I went to Guitar Center and played lots of basses and I really liked the Jaguar and Geddy basses among some others. Anyway, as everyone else, I'm trying to get a particular sound- so I went surfing on youtube to see and hear different bassist and I came across a channel "bass734". I have no clue who he is but his sound is interesting. I can see he uses a Jazz bass but I don't know how he sounds like that. I want a similar sound but I'm not shure if its his playing style or his equipment that gives a harsh bite together with a clean sound- sort of mixed. Its his sound in the video labled "Big Brother" and you can hear it clearer on the bridge and at the end of the song. I sent him an email a few days ago and I haven't recieved an answer yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I've been searching through TB's forum and found very usefull info. The only 2 things I'd like to know guess are:
Can you use an active bass with a SansAmp Bass Driver Di? Or is it better to use a passive bass?
How would I plug the Bass Driver into my rig? XLR or 1/4 - I have both. Thanks.

Wow thanks for your interest. I was doing my usual google search on my name because there are a few folks making cash off of my youtube videos- and its a pisser! But I found this thread in google. Is this one of my friends playing a joke on me? Forgive me if it isn't, but I don't consider myself having any distinct sound- its just a SansAmp with my MIA Deluxe Jazz with an Audere pre.

:Edit:

My settings are like this when using SansAmp:
MIA Jazz Deluxe
Audere- JZ5D
Switch- Mid Z
Mids- a little past the middle- facing it towards the neck pickup
Balance- middle
Highs- middle- or -15%
Lows- middle- or -15%

SansAmp Bass Driver DI
After reading the manual- I find that I like the Crimson Style the best for the P and the King's X for the Jazz.

I use the XLR output when recording- with pres around unity gain.

I also use a similar setting on my 79' Guild with old active Dimarizio's from the 80's- but used passive.

When using my Precision or XB-400, I put all of the SansAmp settings to 50% more or less.

Anyway, I really appreciate the interest, but I only use it on heavier material- otherwise I just go Direct and use the Audere by itself in LowZ. LOL- when was this posted? Sheesh-I'm really sorry about the email, but as far as I know, I didn't recieve any email from you. Please In the future, just PM me or Email me again or something cause this was very embarrassing for me to find- TB is huge. Thanks
AVL
