I have not heard the name Kevin Wyatt before today.
Understand that he is playing Coltranes solo and I have no clue if has any ability to create great solos on his own. I will say that he probably has two brains.

This is an amazing display of right hand - left hand independence.

Can't wait to see what else this guy does. Amazing!

Anybody know him or of him??? Please tell!

That was another 'watching monkeys juggle' moment for me... impressive, I can't do it, must have taken a lot of time to learn.... but why

As far as right hand and left hand independence.... that's what a piano player does every day!

I agree... pretty unique though.

Yay! What a trip!

Mindboggling. He not only plays Trane´s solo note for note but also Paul Chambers´ bass line, if my ears don´t deceive me.

Is that the same Kevin Wyatt who used to play bass with Terence Trent D´Arby?

i'm not really impressed.
I'd be impressed if he played it alone one bass. It's simpler than it looks. Well I'm actually impressed by the piano playing. And he is just touching the frets guys. Let's come back to reality. He's just touching the frets and touching the piano keys. It's not easy at all but it's not as amazing as everyone acts. I bet you guys like this kid too

It's reasonably impressive but not really a big deal. Why?

It's just memorization and hand independence. He memorized two different things to play, learned them separately then worked them up together. I'm willing to bet "worked them up" a lot. This level of independence is seen quite a bit with really good keyboardists.

Now, if he had improvised either the solo or bassline or both...that would be a whole different thing altogther.

Listen to guys like Don Pullen's work with Scofield. Walking bass and solos and all improvised. Whole 'nuther level!

very impressive! May not be practical, but I'm sure it'd draw the crowd away from the bar!

I need to listen to more Coltrane, it's been a while...

Oh come on...give me a break!........ I get the feeling that the guy could have pulled a rabbit out of his arse...and still some of you guys around here would be saying..."yeah... no big deal".

This guy is talented...he swings...he can play one of the landmark tunes in jazz on two different instruments.... simultaneously....with flawless technique....and he can rap.

He's magnificent!!!!

Has your appreciation of music become so clinical that are no longer moved by a display of sheer talent and virtuosity??

I don't chime in often, but anyone who plays more than 1 instrumnent fluently understands the level of mastery that is involved in playing that piece, on separate instruments, with that much accuracy. Anyone with a little bit of music knowledge would acknowledge this guy's skill level and talent. "Didn't see much," "not impressed." I would hate to be playing a concert with some of those thoughts in the audience. Its all about appreication. Dude was phenomenal.

Absolutely no comparison to the Asian kid with two guitars...

I think no matter who the performer is or how great many may think a performer is, that attitude by some is definitely in the audience.

I'd rather him just play bass or piano. It's just overly simplified style of playing that I don't like. the whole touching to just get a sound out is annoying because people think they are gods. I'm not saying the guy is talentless it's just touch-style pisses me off when it's supposed to display virtuosity. I'd be way more impressed with him just playing bass or piano, or playing the bass with two hands. Like I think it's cool, but no reason to be blown away. That shouldn't be that hard with practice. And there was no reason for him to use a bass, he could have done it all on the piano. It's just a gimmick, get over it. Don't say I don't respect talent of Virtuosity when I just bought Alexander's Markov's DVD of him playing all of Paganini's 24 caprices.

I am deeply sorry that you cannot respect someone with this level of talent. We all weren't blown away, we just thought it was cool. But apparently not cool enough for someone with your level of talent and virtuosity.

You'd think that the commentary regarding musicianship this amazing HERE on Talkbass would at least surpass the mean intelligence of the normal commentary on YouTube...but then; bang - NOPE.

Wow, how cool is the Internet, huh?

Shouldn't be too hard with practice? Oh dear...

Isn't that the case with any music ever performed?
