Al was the first guy I heard playing one of those huge basses. He's really good. It ain't my style, but it opened me up to the possibility that those basses are more than a gimmick.

What I love about Al using midi basses is that he actually plays it tastefully instead of using it as a gimmick. He uses certain patches to complement the piece of music he's playing. He's the perfect melding of talent and technology.

He is an excellent player, and even tips his hate to Stanley Clarke on the first page, so he has my respect!

I love Al's playing. He's a BURNING musician.

Problem is, I can't stand some of those patches. I think what he's aiming for is very admirable, but the technology hasn't caught up with his vision yet.

Can't hate on him for being a pioneer, though. Go Al!!

Just my $0.02.

I tip my hate to murderers, thieves, rapists, and ex-girlfriends only. I never tip my hate to any bassists. Even Pete Wentz.
