????? what does this have to do with rock? Unless you're just saying that because he's playing some groovy lines that he's automatically better than rock players?

I certainly hope it's not the latter, or anything related to that, because it would make you look rather ignorant.

Sure it was just a U-tube post,& SURE the bassist was technically VERY good! but IMHO-like SO many other U tube bass bits-the players NEVER leave ANY GAPS!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats what makes it FUNKY!!! "It's not what U play Its what U don't play", "U got 2 know when NOT to play". "Its the PAUSE that refreshes"... aaahhhh whats another one. "U played a lotta notes, but how many of them did U actually FEEL?" quotes by Miles Davis, W. Marsarlis, Max Headroom......As far as ROCK goes...????????? that aint no rock! ALL IMHO of course :-)

Good technically. I definitely don't play that song as complicated as he does. Great interpretation on it, though!

Yeah he's surely overplaying but it's for YouTube, so makes sense.

I just dug it Also dug that he's doing it on a bass that isn't necessarily going to garner much respect on TB!

Meh you guys really think that guy is that good?? Pretty average if you ask me. Nothing like the jean boudin (sp) video ive seen of him playing some nintendo song. Im not taking anything away from the guy, hes plenty good, just not anything amazing. I worked at sam ash for a while and those guys are a dime a dozen. He learned a song really well then recorded on you tube. His technique is kinda sloppy. Throw someone a page of sheet music and ask them to play it perfectly, IMO a much harder task.

I love the bassline he fits into the song. I might be overplaying but I didn't hear a single note out of place or that would make anybody say: "hey the bassplayer just screwed up". Besides, he kept the rythm flowing pretty well IMO.

Cool video. Gotta love the fact that he seems to be watching TV!!

I really don't like gospel music, but what is it with all those incredibly skillfull bassist playing in that genre?

I don't think I've ever seen a gospel player that was not scary good.

Check out this one, awesome chops.

First thought: That's not Rock...

Second thought: Is that a rogue? Man that bass sounds nice.

I liked his playing..

That is a Rogue. I had one, but traded it in for a fretless Jazz. The bass has a really prominent midrange, and it growls a lot. Mine buzzed way too much though, and the electronics were extremely noisy.
