Alan Spenner, SUPER STAR and THE GREASE BAND
Alan Spenner-

Here we go again, but I’d really like some hard info on this guy. Jesus Christ Superstar is arguably the quintessential example of bass playing in the late 60s-early 70s. The notes, the sound, the interaction are tops. His (phenomenal) performance at Woodstock was the only visual record I know of him playing.

1.What about this guy?

2. What is he playing? He has a P at Woodstock with the Grease band.

3. Is he picking at all??

4. Those gotta be flats…right?

5. Why did Chris Stainton stay behind in America with Joe Cocker and the Mad Dogs.

6. Was he injected into the board or do we hear an amp; is that amp a Guild.

Are there any other “non group” albums like this. “Hair” is another great bass bag, though the sound leaves me cold. Who’s playing there. “Grease” is also great…who is that?
