I've found info on the drummer, but not on Alvin Mills...


Anyone got some info, a website maybe?

This is remarkable for a couple of reasons, to my mind. First, and more obvious, is the players are obviously burning, with one getting amazingly vintage sounds in a amazingly non-vintage way (meaning the drums, of course).

Secondly, it reinforces what I've always thought was represented by Headhunters tunes such as "Actual Proof" (which I learned shortly after it was released on their second recording 'Thrust'): No one has ever topped that era for sheer funkiness--those grooves were simply ridiculous, as were those of same-era Tower of Power ("Soul Vaccination", "Squib Cakes", "What is Hip", etc).

That these two killer current players chose this 30+-year old tune says it all. There were giants in those days.
