This guy here, Thiago Espirito Santo, is skilled enough to duel with Jaco and make him leave stage. He's the bass player for brazillian virtuoso 7-string classical guitarist Yamandu Costa. Check out the bass solo from the 2:53 mark and beyond. Not only his tone is brilliant (quite Jaco-esque, though) but he's fast as hell!

Makes me want to pick my fretless Geddy up and start practicing

Thiago Espirito Santo

Thank you Marco for more info on Thiago. I am amazed with this guy...he's the first one to make my head spin since Jaco.

He is the real deal! I've seen Jaco on many occasions and this is the first player I have seen that has captured Jaco's spirit.

Ingrid has posted him doing Donna Lee with a guitarist (best version since Jaco's) on the Jaco's Fret-Less Hang web site. It's the 15th post down. Check it out and then re-consider if you still want to play bass

That was great, but I was more impressed with the drummer. I like fretless when it's someone like Pino or Mark Egan more, still it's nice to hear something different done so well.
