Amazing players that play for fun?

Sign in to disble this ad
Are there any amazing players or virtuoso's that don't play for a living and just consider it a hobby? and play for fun?

Does this make sense? It seems like it would be a paradox...

It seems anyone i meet who is amazing their whole life is "the bass".. It becomes who they are ....

Sometimes i forgot I'm Human before the bass player...( and im just a beginner lol)

Most of the great bassists are either amateurs or only playing on the side. Even bassists with international reputations often have to work on the side to make ends meet.

There are a lot of great musicians that have never gone full time professional for all sorts of reasons, the most common reason is family. It takes a lot of commitment and willingness to sacrifice in order to get out there and make a go of it and there are no guarantees that the most talented, skilled or committed will make it because there is so much sheer luck involved.

I know a few truly mind blowing musicians who either can't make the income they want and need just from music, or choose not to because they'd rather keep the music they make something purely artistic and sacred. I also know some average to good musicians who make a good living because they work their butts off and hustle like crazy, and take just about any gig.
