American Masters: Cachao

Cachao will be the focus of American Masters on Monday night, September 20, 2010 on PBS. Should be good!

Man, I will have to get somebody to record it for me, i won't be able to watch that night. Cachao is one of my biggest influences.

And I'll name drop here: I had the privilege of briefly speaking to Cachao in Miami, when "Calle 54" premiered at the Miami Film Festival, and I got to observe at an afternoon rehearsal and evening concert by Cachao, Bebo and percussionist Carlos "Patato" Valdes. Unforgettable. Cachao's rhythmic feel and big tone were amazing - one of those players who was simply irreplaceable.
