As much as I love Dose, I think High and Mighty is their strongest album to date. |

Matt opened by saying they were dedicating the show to Mitch and how much of an impact he had on his life. That was very cool. I could see Warren and the guys weekly and not get tired of their stuff. So good.
As far as Jorgen, he did great for the little amount of time he's been with the band. You could tell that he's not completely comfortable with all of the material but that only comes with time. He has the vibe that Mule needs and I see him being a great part of the band for a long time!
As you can see, he was playing through two Ampeg cabinets stack sideways and two Blue-Line heads. His tone with his P-Bass was top notch. He had a pedal board but it was hidden behind the monitors as has been said before.
Here's a pic I took last night. I took some more. Maybe I'll put them up son.
Go see the Mule!! |

| | | | I was very dissapointed to hear Andy is no longer with mule. I too saw the show 11.12 @ the Venue. Great show, great room! New bass player(?) I was not impressed with him at all. He played very basic lines, quietly. A lot of root notes and not much else. I trust Warren's judgment, but I hope this guy steps it up. He's got some BIG shoes to fill. |

They did a bunch of Floyd stuff... chick backup singers too. Can't really tell much about Jorgen's playing from these...
Matt gets lead vocals (!) on Have A Cigar Shine On You Crazy Diamond Money Breathe Wish You Were Here <- Looks like Warren is playing his 12-string LP here. I think it's like the only one in the world.
Can't wait to check out the full show from MuleTracks.
Lots of cameras too... heads up for a DVD!

They sound pretty good. Nice version of "Don't Step On The Grass Sam" which sounds like Jorgen playing the Tbird with a pick. The Floyd tunes are pretty cool. "The band is just fantastic, that is realy what I think, oh, by the way, which one's the MULE?"
Bernie, did Warren trash his Firebird? It looks like he was giving it the Hendrix smashing treatment from the pictures on mule.net. http://www.mule.net/from_the_road/ph...11208&image=08 http://www.mule.net/from_the_road/ph...11208&image=09 |

Crap!
That first one looks like the mic stand slide thing, but that second one looks to be on the floor! Damn. |

A bit more in your face then Hess, but a bit less groovy. Not that he's not locking in with Abts, just a different style. it sounds to me like he's doing his best to impersonate both Hess and Woody for the appropriate songs. I
Personally I love the sound he's getting from the tbird. It is what I want in a bass tone for the Mule. |

Surprisingly no one I know has never heard about them, and even for me they vere kinda "new" band.
But.. it was one of the best sounding shows I`v seen since...ever.
Jorgen was playing Ampeg SVT VR (?) trough Ampeg 8x10 and Marshall tube amp (not VBA) trough another Ampeg 8x10.
He started with Thunderbird and after few songs he switched to P-bass and sounded absolutely wonderfull with both.
Haynes was playing Firebird at first and then used Les Paul all so sounding great.
Luis had so much stuff that it`s hard to tell what he actually used but it sounded great.
Even the drum sound was good and blended well with bass.
When they started my first impression was something like "hey progressive lynyrd skynyrd and it`s sounding really good"
All in all great songs, great playing, great athmosphere..

There were some moments where you could tell by the look on his face that he still isn't 100% comfortable with the material, but I don't recall him hitting any obvious boinkers.
His tone is excellent, he has great feel, and is in my opinion, a better fit (tone-wise, especially) for Mule's bass chair than Andy Hess, who is a stellar player.
Awesome outdoor show right on the riverfront. Great weather, great vibe. One of the best shows I have been to. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
