My name is Marta and I'm 20. I'm a bass player from Barcelona (Spain). I started playing the bass in 2010.
Amazing.

When I was 20, I sure couldn't groove like that.

She's fantastic.

Dream come true

She is so talented that she had the luck to be seen by Jamiroquai and then they invited her to join their tour in South America.

I certainly felt motivated by that!

What's amazing about playing bass is that you can see/hear someone like this and really appreciate what she is doing even though it is so polar opposite of what I usually like. I am p-bass/tube amp kind of guy who doesn't normally dig super smooth hi-fi modern bass tone but she really knocks my socks off.

She is a good bassist. Her being a girl has nothing to do with it. At all.

Her performance does leave a lot to be desired though, you should treat the camera like a stage and not spend your time staring at the fretboard. I am sure her looks helped with the 70,000 views too.

Part of showmanship is looks. A 20 year old attractive female has advantages that a middle-aged, flabby dude does not. It is what it is.

The first thing that caught me is her feel. You can usually tell if someone's on it in 15 seconds or less-and she is. A great player.

Seriously nice use of articulation in her playing!

And very clean muting.

Nice octave-skipping in this.

She makes the same bass face as I do (3:39), when something ain't quite nailed...

...and, to add to the "impressive" list:

How do some of these youngster's get so good these days? Great feel and groove for someone who's that young.

I'm SO glad I'm at the age and point in my life where I don't get intimidated or jealous about anyone who can blow my doors off anymore, especially with someone like this young lady. I'm always trying to improve but I realized a while back that for as long as I've been playing I'm always going to be of a certain "ilk" and never anything more than that. But I keep trying.

She is very inspirational.
