Nothing against you Panda, but that list is the biggest joke, for tons of reasons I'm just not going to get into. Too much I could complain about. The biggest surprise here is that any bassists who I think are good actually got on the list at all. Jamerson, for example. Eh, I generally don't bother reading such things, but clicked on it because if came from a TB member.

That list is absolutely horrendous.

Mark Hoppus should not be in the upper register of that list at all!

Everyone complaining: quick, top 10 list of your all time favorite rugby players. then I'm going to post that list on a rugby forum so they can all laugh at it.

Pretty much the same thing.

Let's compare the intelligence of the people who voted. For Cliff Burton, this detailed reason was given:
Quote:
CLIFF the BEST... 4EVER
Now for Geddy Lee, let's look at what people thought of him.
Quote:
Geddy Lee is an amazing bass player! the way that he plays scales behind those powerful rush licks is phenominal! His ability to mix jazz and slap bass into modern rock is probably the best thing about Rush. Geddy Lee is amazing and if I had this list my way he’d be right up at the top probably with with Mark King and Chris Squire from Yes. Chris Squire’s lick in Roundabout is almost as great as a Geddy Lee line.
Geddy Lee is probably the best bass player of all time despite what an unpublished internet website may tell you.
Spot the more intelligent answer!

Conclusion:
90% of people on Top Ten List.com are morons.

Also, I had to share this:
Quote:
hes also a really good singer and sometimes he jumps around while he plays
I'm sold!
Edit: after a lot of looking through the comments, there are more I feel like sharing. Instead I'm going for a good cry.
Edit number 2: ok, ok, here's another, I can't resist.
Quote:
You people are stupid, Cliff Burton should be in the top ten, there are a lot of bassist better than Jaco whats his name, all he ever wrote was freaking elevator music

I clicked on it to see. Probably mostly a bunch of kids who don't yet know what good is.

FWIW, I didn't even see Duck Dunn or Bob Babbitt, who both could pocket the groove like a stolen c-note.

I never knew Pete Wenz was more talented then Michael Manring, Marcus Miller, Sean Malone, James Jamerson, and Tony Levin. Who would have guessed? Also how the hell does Tom Araya get on list for greatest anything?
