A player I have tremendous respect for. An artist and a craftsman. And not afraid to speak his mind.

I almost always nod my head regarding what he has to say - although I still think one should go from the 4 to the 5 to the 6 instead of just starting with a 6.

I went from a 4 for about 20 years and then incorporated a 6 for 10 years and now have my first 5 for about 3 years and to me a bass is a bass and its more getting used to the make and model more so than how many strings. I have noticed more symmetry when playing patterns in lines with the even numbered basses so my next one I will skip the 7 and go to an 8 or 10 string and hopefully finish with a 12 string before I retire.

It was a cool day when AJ came. The man is a genius, and we really are honoured by his presence here. He really made a lot of records!

True!
One of the real originals...
A part for his technique I've been influenced to his approach to the instrument, he really has the deepest love for the bass guitar, and he's one of those who can be recognized since the first note he plays....

True dat!

One of the aspects of Anthony's genius that really hits home with me is the fact he doesn't play a bazillion notes and show off his technique (which he has plenty of) but rather he's developed the uncanny ability to choose and place his notes where they matter the most and just as much his silences. And if someone can drop your jaw by their note choices and rhythms, that's a sure sign you're doing something right.
