| | | | I love Anthony Jackson. Easily one of the best bassists of all time. However, after listening to the sampler, I'm not real excited. I read Anthony felt his compositional skills were not where he wanted them to be to record a solo project so I understand why he let this other bassist compose the music that would bet show his skills. I'm just just not that keen on the other bass player. Regardless, I will buy this CD like I do anything else AJ plays on. He is always a must have. |

There are exceptions in the bass world, of course... some of the early Marcus Miller stuff, the recent Tal Wilkenfeld disc, the amazing Richard Bona solo discs, some of the Patitucci solo discs.... great music and great bass playing. Most of the other 'sideman bassists as leaders' recordings have been disappointing to me regarding the writing and performances.
I'll buy it though (I buy all this stuff, if for nothing else, to support these guys, none of whom are getting rich from playing bass).

| | | | I too am somewhat doubtful about the music on this disc, after having heard the samples.
But it's a "wait and see", no?
I'm still looking forward to hearing it all.
